We’re Going to Laos!

Our first 32 Spirits development trip way back in 2018.

We’re thrilled to share that we’ll be returning to Laos next month—our first product-development journey back in seven years. This homecoming feels especially meaningful. Together with our Lao family, we’ve built 32 Spirits from a seed of an idea into a brand grounded in cultural exchange, artistry, and deep respect. Along the way, we’ve learned so much about the beauty of Lao culture and its exquisite textile traditions.

It’s no exaggeration to say that 32 Spirits has been a true labor of love: love for traditions passed down from mothers to daughters; love for textiles that are woven by hand, thread by thread; and love for the joyful rhythms of Lao life, where family, nature, spirituality, Buddhism, and animism intertwine.

Next month, we’ll spend time with the extraordinary artisans who created our inaugural indigo collection. We’ll also revisit the remote silk-weaving communities where we’re beginning to develop a series of fine art pieces—and, if we’re lucky, we hope to meet new weaving villages tucked into the lush mountainsides of northern Laos.

As we prepare for the journey, we’d love to bring you along. Is there anything specific you’d like to learn about the artisans we partner with, daily life in Laos, or the textile traditions that make this small nation so culturally rich? Send us a note or leave a comment below—we’ll do our best to capture these stories while we’re there.
