MEANING IN THE WEAVE
In Laos weaving tradition, stripe motifs are symbols for RAINBOWS and are commonly found in waistbands and the hems of tube skirts worn by women and shamans.
WEAVER’S NOTES
This placemat is made of handspun and naturally dyed cotton yarns grown in the Houaphan Province of Laos. It has been woven for you by Ms. Thing of the Taileu Tribe.
Slight differences in color, pattern and yarn add to the beauty of this artisan made textile. Natural dyes will patina over time.
CARE
Wash in cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent. Do not bleach. Line dry for a softly rumpled look. Iron while damp.
